Although the cause of the accident is unknown, 48-year old Louis Cisneros perished instantly when the semi truck rolled while heading west bound on Interstate 84, reports the Standard-Examiner. At the time of the crash, the tanker was full of butane, but, “These tanks are really resilient,” and the “icy winds blowing in from Weber Canyon helped maintain the safety of the overturned flammable payload,” explains Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Chris Simmons.

Utah Department of Transportation’s Zero Fatalities campaign brought together the 25 families who lost a child in a car accident, reports Fox13 News. Unlike most accident stories where human injury is the main problem, St. George experienced a new type of situation, when an overturned semi-truck released an estimated 25 million bees, KSL News reports. The biggest problem they had was getting the correct colony boxes next to each other,  Casey Lofthouse, Washington County bee inspector informs. When bees from different colonies are together they will attack and kill each other. About two-thirds of the bees were recovered, thanks to local beekeepers who came together to help the out-of-state owner.

A 15-year-old girl was hit at the crosswalk by Heartland Elementary School at 1500 West and 7000 South in West Jordan, where she suffered a serious head injury reports The Salt Lake Tribune. The lights at this intersection had not yet been activated for the morning school, but traffic was heavy and the girl was wearing dark clothing. This West Jordan pedestrian accident is still under investigation.

Mistake 2: No Police Investigation- Failure to get a Police Report

Sometimes, the at-fault driver begs the injured party not to call the police to report the accident. They ask to let them just pay the damages so their insurance rates don’t go up. Big mistake! That same person who seems so sincere at the scene of the accident will often lie and try to blame you for the crash. Without a police report, it’s your word against theirs.

Police reports are essential to show what happened during the accident. Police reports show where the crash happened, who was involved, the vehicles involved, the direction they were going, and any witnesses that have seen the crash. When I sign a new client, the first thing I do is request that police report to make sure it is correct and matches the story of my client. Police reports are especially critical because they show the insurance information of both parties. If the at-fault party is begging you not to get the police involved, they may not have insurance in the first place or they may never give you their insurance information after the fact.

The solution is to always call the police when you are in an accident. We are talking about thousands of dollars in potential medical bills. You may not feel the accident is bad or that you have any injuries, but after the adrenalin wears off, you may be left with thousands of dollars in medical bills and at-fault party that is no where to be found.

If you decided not to call the police immediately after the accident, it is better to call the police the next day then to not call them at all.
