A driver of a tractor trailer crashed near Lexington, NC, on Thursday, June 23rd, and died at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center according to a report by My Fox 8. The driver of the truck was Shane Thomas Allen of Harrisville, Utah.
According to the report, an official with the Lexington Police Department stated the truck was traveling down Highway 64 when a load of paper shifted. This caused the truck to overturn. Mr. Allen was thrown from the truck and then pinned underneath. Officials also believe that speed could have been a factor in the crash.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation immediately repaired the 180 feet of guardrail that was damaged in the accident.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Allen Family during this time of mourning. It is always hard to lose someone that you love in such a tragic way. And I’m sure that it is even more difficult given the distance in between the loss and the family.
