Troy Palmer, 46 years old of Herriman, Utah, was killed on April 21, 2010, in a single-car rollover accident. According to the Salt Lake Tribune, Palmer was driving on the I-215 at the time that the while Chevrolet Tahoe he was driving left the road and rolled over. Three other passengers, believed to have been wearing seat belts, were also in the Tahoe at the time and suffered minor injuries. They were transported to the Intermountain Medical Center and were treated and released. Utah Highway Patrol “UHP” spokesperson Cameron Roden said he did not believe that Troy Palmer was wearing a seat belt.
I send my deep condolences to the family of this man following the tragic accident. I also wish the passengers in this Tahoe a speedy recovery.
What we know about this life is that we do not know when death will come calling for us. Certain things we do, however, can hasten death’s call. One of these things is failing to wear a seat belt. While it is unknown if Palmer would have survived if he had worn his seat belt, since the other three survived with minor injuries, it seems that there would have been a good chance that Troy Palmer would be with us today if he had. Utah, please wear your seat belts and make sure your little ones are safely buckled as well.
