A 50-year-old man, Jeffrey Burge, 55 years-old of Salt Lake City, was identified as the victim following a fatal accident involving a motorcycle and a Ford Focus on Friday, April 13, 2012. According to The Salt Lake Tribune, Burge was struck by a 55-year-old woman when she failed to yield at the intersection of 12th Street and 1200 West in Marriott-Slaterville, Utah. The woman driving the car made a left-hand turn directly in front of Burge’s motorcycle and he was unable to avoid crashing into the side of the motorist’s car. He was taken to a local hospital where he later passed away from his injuries. The woman driving the car received a citation for failure to yield.
I send my sincere condolences to the family of this man.
As a Utah wrongful death lawyer, I can say with a high confidence level that this woman significantly contributed to this man’s demise. I would recommend that the family of this man find out what remedies are available from insurance or otherwise, following this tragic crash.
