Motorcyclist, Deloss Garrett Dahle was killed while attempting to race another car in the Millcreek, Utah area. Deputies saw the bullet bike and a Corvette driving at an “extremely high rate of speed” at around 2 in the morning on June 6, 2010. The motorcycle collided with another car near 3900 South and 3350 East. The driver of a Toyota Camry, a 19-year-old woman, pulled into the intersection to turn and the motorcycle and the Camry collided. Dahle was thrown about 30 feet into the roadway where he died. The driver of the Camry was treated for minor injuries at the hospital.

Reports given by the Salt Lake Tribune state that deputies were trying to catch up with the race when the accident happened. This gives some type of perspective as to how fast the two were traveling. Each, year illegal street racing claims the lives of so many. We often think of street racing as a contest between at least two vehicles, but the definition states that it is a contest of speed on an open public road which can involve one of more vehicles. If convicted of street racing, you can face a prison sentence of up to three months and a fine up to $1,000. In this tragic accident, the driver of the Corvette knew Mr. Dahle. If he is found guilty of street racing, he might face substantial prison time because the accident resulted in a fatality.
