Yazlin Setino, 5, from Ogden, Utah was killed in a rollover accident in Paragonah, Utah on Saturday, March 27, 2010. This fatal Utah auto accident happened around 2:45 a.m. on Interstate 15, about two miles south of Paragonah, Utah at Mile Marker 83. According to standard.net, Setino, her grandparents and her aunt were driving in a 2006 Tundra when they hit a patch of ice causing the female driver to lose control of the vehicle. The truck went off the road and rolled three times before coming to a stop upside down. Police say that Yazlin Setino was wearing a seat belt but she was not in a booster seat. The girl was partially ejected from the truck and pronounced dead at the scene. The other three occupants suffered minor injuries and were taken to Valley View Medical Center in Cedar City, Utah.
Authorities remind us that booster seats save lives and encourage parents to keep their children restrained in a child seat as long as possible. Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Ted Tingey said: “This is pretty much a clear-cut situation. If the child had been in a booster seat, it probably would have made a big difference.”
My heart goes out to the family of this little girl. I offer them my thoughts and prayers as they mourn the loss of this little girl.
In this case, the family would do well contacting a Utah wrongful death attorney who can help them file a claim to cover the funeral expenses for young Yazline Setino. The passengers in the car can also file a claim to help pay for their medical bills, lost wages and receive compensation for pain and suffering.
