West Valley City, Utah police are reported a three-vehicle accident that closed down several lanes on Bangerter Highway in West Valley City, Utah on June 4, 2010. According to police Capt. Tom McLachlan, three people had to be transported to the hospital as a result of the crash that happened at 1:19 p.m. The accident happened when the driver of one of the cars crashed into the back of two other cars stopped at a red light. The woman driving the first car and a passenger in her vehicle sustained bumps and bruises and possible broken bones. An elderly man who was driving one of the other two cars, did not suffer any visible injuries but was dizzy and confused at the scene. He was transported to the hospital as a precaution.
According to The Salt Lake Tribune, all the eastbound lanes and two of the northbound lanes near 4100 South were closed until debris could be cleared.
The driver of the first vehicle was cited for improper lookout. I wonder what caused this Utah vehicle accident? Was the driver texting or talking on her phone? It takes only a fraction of a second to lose sight of the road and cause a serious accident. Fortunately, it appears all parties will make a full recovery and their injuries were not severe. Regardless of the cause, the first driver’s insurance is responsible for the medical bills and lost wages of those whom she hit as well as the passenger in her car. I recommend that the injured parties contact an experienced personal injury attorney who can help them file the necessary claims.
